Ashton is a smart and kind young teenager who loves Japanese culture
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In our Forever Home series, we feature a young person in the foster care system who needs a family to embrace him and include him in their family. Today we meet Ashton. He is an artistic and creative 13-year-old with big goals in life. From My Hero Academia to Vocaloids, Ashton embraces many facets of Japanese culture. These characters contribute to fueling the creativity of this young man – he loves to draw and enjoys coding and creating video games – which are part of his major plans for the future. He says he wants to “be a model hacker, those people who create models for 3D printing or for online music videos that don’t use real people.” For college, he hopes to attend MIT. But aside from his drive and ambition, he’s like many other kids his age. He loves tacos, fries and cheese, mac and cheese and of course pizza.
Ashton can be shy and slow to adapt to new people, but he’s very silly and playful once he trusts you. He is also shrewd, intelligent, playful and clumsy,” says one of the adults close to him. “Ashton knows his special interests very well and is ready to share everything he knows with you! He’s funny and smart with a great sense of humor.”
He’s not too particular about what he wants in a family, saying “it doesn’t matter what the parents are, as long as they’re nice and give me time for myself.” I want a cat and probably no dogs, maybe a bird or a fish, but that’s not too good with a cat. And then maybe like a little brother or a little sister.
Many thanks to Vault of Midnight for letting us meet Ashton there – he’s such a kind and smart teenager – he deserves a family that will love him and help him achieve his dreams.
